You Must be Capital, and Labor for Love.
If there is one thing that has become abundantly clear as we watch the working class collapse and the richest get richer beyond any comprehensible scale we can really imagine, it is that these days, labor doesn’t get you far. You cannot trade hourly labor for enough money to exchange your life for unless you really, really love what you’re doing.
What is it that the rich have that keep them getting richer? Well, obviously, money- but that’s not really it. The rich have capital to “work” for them, and they are free from punching a clock because of it.
PSA- no one is going to give any of us permission to live a different way. In fact, many will disapprove if you decide to step off the merry-go-round, and revolt in the wildest manner possible: by committing your labor hours only to doing what you love- because that is the one and only fair trade of time and a wage. This is only possible if you are either very lucky, or if you recognize that you have a vast amount of capital, but to use it, you must invest the labor hours into it- not to building someone else’s wealth.
You were born with the most powerful piece of capital on earth, if you could just see it. It’s looking back at you in the mirror- it is YOU.
You are 100% unique, completely original, and you have something to share that the world needs, but unless you redirect your energy into channeling your intuition and capture the time back in your life to develop and nurture your gifts, it’s unlikely that the world will get the chance to benefit from what you have to teach and share.
There is not a limited amount, stop thinking that. It IS possible for each and every one of us to have the abundance that we want, and to live the dreams that are possible when we are living aligned with our capital and laboring only for love- for what makes us feel passion and the most alive. No two people have the same dream, the same gifts, or the same needs. And, there is no one alive, not even the most famous and rich, who don’t need someone else for something. Everyone is a fan of someone.
Musicians don’t stop liking music, they enjoy it even more, perhaps, for appreciating the shared dedication and ability. When we reduce ourselves to hours, to wages, to accounts and amounts, we belittle our sheer possibility, and it’s an assault to our inner selves. We betray ourselves by not caring about how we feel, and putting off the importance of what we do.
It starts by becoming the kind of person who makes every decision an act of supreme self love. This can start small, in tiny habits that will, surely and not slowly, begin to shine the treasure that is you.
Start simple. Drink enough water, for a start. Your body is a temple, stop torturing it. Your body is not a fixer-upper or a work in progress, it is your body- right now, to day. It is not you, but it houses your emotions, and deserves respect. Be healthy in ways that aren’t diets, that aren’t body-focused, and your body will change in the best ways possible.
Then, because your brain is your body, and is capable of so much if we can quiet our pesky, intrusive minds and just… listen. Observe. Make five minutes a day for stillness.
If it’s hard to not think, it’s okay, clap your hands if it helps, chant a simple mantra. At intensely painful points of my life, when I couldn’t bare to feel much, I would count. Just sit, and count, in my head, to one hundred, then start over.
After some time of this, I’d observe the numbers where my breath would land, and soon, I had a practice that healed enough to let me start to see myself, and remember my dreams, my hopes and my confidence without fear or needless denial. This practice led to longer meditation, and more and more ways to understand and listen to my intuition evolved into not just my meditation, but into every aspect of daily life.
When you stop accepting yourself and your life, and begin caring deeply about your life story and how you feel while you live it, you will begin to find it unacceptable to compromise your time in exchange for dollars. Listen to these urges, and start doing what you want to do instead- your intuition knows what you are capable, and once you unleash it’s power, there is no stopping you.
